Yes I know, very creative blog title. Well it has been a while since we posted anything so I feel “New Post” should be fitting for a title. We have some cool stuff coming up to let you know about. I also wanted to post some pics from a recent delivery of equipment to Central America.

We are excited to be a part of 2011 Inspire Worship Conference. This year we are getting an opportunity to be interviewed on stage and let everyone know about WAKETHESILENCE and why we are so passionate about it.

Another cool thing to let you know about. Back in January we received a very generous donation from a group of high school students! They spontaneously collected money and tossed it in a guitar case. Over $500.00!! Praise the Lord!! We have already used some of this money to purchase guitar cases for instruments we had so we can get those safely shipped to the mission field.

Please keep us in your prayers. Pray for our Inspire Worship Conference opportunity. Enjoy the pics below.

The next set of pictures are from Central America where we were so blessed to send box loads of percussion instruments. The instruments were delivered safely with a team from Biltmore Baptist Church. It is such a blessing to see the smiling faces on these children.

We were so blessed to be at Inspire 2010! We met so many wonderful people who have a heart for what God is doing through WAKETHESILENCE. The music was incredible this year! As always Carl Cartee showed his giftedness as a worship leader. Also, Laura Story was there, as well as Brenton Brown and many others. It was so encouraging to hear these wonderful people lead worship and inspire others to become better worship leaders. We always love making contacts with new people as well as seeing familiar faces who, like us, are returning to Inspire Worship Conference for another year of inspiration. Thank you to all that supported us through prayer, donations, and through buying the most comfortable shirts in the world. We ask you to continue praying for us as we carry out what God has led us to do. Enjoy some pictures from this weekend…yes…of course I’m throwing in some pics of our sweet baby as she laid out on the grass during some down time. Stay tuned to our site to stay up to date with all that is going on. We love you all.

Many requests come to us from different areas of Central America. So far we have been able to provide musical resources to missionaries and churches in Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala. The most popular needs we have seen from these areas have been acoustic guitars, guitar accessories, and percussion instruments for children. The people of Central America are passionate about worshipping through music and desire to learn more. Through donations we have been able to provide funding for musical education. We are excited about what we have seen God do in Central America, and we ask for your prayers as God opens more doors for ministry in this area.

We donated a guitar to Crossroads Ministries, and we received this letter the other day!

Dear Jonathan,

My husband and I are serving in northern India, working closely with a school and hospital in the foothills of the Himalayas. Just before we left the US in 2008, I attended Carl Cartee’s first worship conference in Gatlinburg, TN, called ‘Inspire.’ It was there that our church worship team first heard about what you do at Wake the Silence.

My good friend Justin Brock (with Crossroads Ministries) contacted you recently to request that you consider donating a guitar that we could use with our church youth group and at the school. We are overflowing with young men that are growing both in their guitar skills and in their relationships with Christ. Your organization graciously sent that guitar, and I want you to know that it is being used often to worship the Lord in this place.

Today was the first time we had the opportunity to plug it into an amp. Our church just experienced their first youth-led meeting here this morning. It was beautiful, and we really appreciated having such a great instrument to use.

Thank you so very much for what you’re doing around the world, and for allowing us to be blessed through your ministry.

Joyfully,
Charlene Campbell

We have teamed up with several missionaries and ministries traveling or living in Africa, and we have seen God do amazing work through the ministry of music. A complete band set up (percussion, sound equipment, electric and acoustic guitars, amps, etc) was given to the ministry, Gospel for Africa, for one of their church plants. A keyboard and sheet music were sent to a missionary in Liberia, so she could teach worship songs to the children. In May 2010, a group of college students will be taking percussion instruments to the orphans of Kenya. Our God is so good, and these are just a few examples of how He is using WAKETHESILENCE to reach the people of this beautiful part of our world.

Our God is big, bigger than those that try to keep the gospel out of East Asia. To be able to help reach the lost in this part of the world has been an enormous blessing to those involved with WAKETHESILENCE Ministries. Music is a powerful way to penetrate the walls that keep people from believing in Jesus. Missionaries in Nepal travel to villages that have never even heard the name of Jesus, and they use music to draw a crowd. Once they have gathered, this gives them the opportunity to share that there is a God that loves them. We have been able to provide these missionaries with portable sound systems, guitars, and guitar accessories that they can take into these villages. We have also given recorders and Christian songbooks to the children of far west Nepal so as they learn to play, they also learn about a loving God. This brings us so much joy!

WAKETHESILENCE Ministries has also had the privilege of teaming up with Crossroads Worldwide, as they send teams to India and around the world. As they send teams to remote villages and orphanages, they also take along instruments from WAKETHESILENCE to give to the pastors and children.

New needs come to us every week for this area of the world, so please keep in prayer how you can help.

Jaymashi (Christian greeting in Nepal)! We want to thank all of you for helping through monetary support and prayer, as we traveled to Nepal in March. Padam and Prabina, Nepali missionaries and our good friends, have had several needs met through the ministry of WAKETHESILENCE. Around a year and a half ago, they contacted us with a need for a portable sound system and an electric/acoustic guitar. They were able to use this sound system, the guitar, and other instruments to attract villagers in far west Nepal so they could share the gospel. Padam is a very talented musician and he has a group of musicians that travel with him…they have even been able to make a CD! Their CD is very popular, and it has been a great tool to spread the love of Christ.

When Padam and Prabina contacted us again about some more needs, we jumped on the chance! They asked for recorders and songbooks for the children. Prabina would teach them how to play, then eventually ‘graduate’ them to the flute! They also needed more guitar strings to get them through for a while. This time, we wanted to take what they needed directly to them! Recorders and guitar strings were donated, money was given for the Vegge Tale Songbooks, and we surprised Prabina with a flute someone had given us. What joy it brought us to encourage Padam and Prabina, assist them with their ministry, and bring them items that they needed. We could not have done it without YOU!

Here is Bhuwan playing the flute. He plays the native flute, but not the American version, so it will take some teaching on Prabina’s part. Bhuwan was once a Hindu, then gave his life to the Lord, and he now works with Padam and Prabina.

One day in Nepal, Prabina took us to their land
where they will be building a training center.
Directly above this land is an open area with
360 degree views, where you can see so many
of the villages that have never heard the gospel.

It is Padam and Prabina’s vision to share Jesus with every single village in Far West Nepal. While we were there, Jonathan grabbed a guitar and led us in songs and prayer. It was an incredible moment.

Jonathan was also able to sing, Open the Eyes of My Heart, in a small church in Nepal. About 30 people were sitting on the floor worshipping the Lord in a 12X12 room. Just to hear them singing holy, holy, holy was beautiful…they may not have known what they were singing, but that did not matter!

Eighty percent of Nepalese are Hindu, and twenty percent are Buddhist. Both religions have millions of gods, and the Nepali people worship these gods out of fear. Out of all of these gods, there is not one god of love. How said would it
be to never feel loved? What an awesome message we have for the Nepali people. The one true God loves them,, and He loves them so much He died for them! What an incredible God we serve, and one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord!

What is Happening Now??

WAKETHESILENCE AFRICA

Right now, we are working on a request from a ministry in Africa called, Gospel for Africa. Here is some information about this ministry:

Chris and Noelle Jones received God’s call to begin Gospel For Africa in 2002. Noelle was born in Côte d’Ivoire and came to the U.S. in 1991. Pastor Chris was serving in the local church when they met. They were married and soon were receiving invitations to minister the Word of God in Africa. After seeing the need there for sound biblical teaching and discipleship, God began preparing them to lead the ministry of Gospel For Africa.

Jesus Christ is the hope for Africa.
In Matthew 28 our Lord commands us to go and make disciples of all nations. Many in Africa have answered the call to serve the Lord and His people. These servants of God need help from those of us who have been blessed with much. The greatest need is sound biblical training in an atmosphere where they can see the Word of God applied to daily life. Gospel For Africa will supply free bible training and materials to every student we teach.

They are in need of an electric/acoustic guitar, bass guitar, guitar amplifier, mics and mic stands. If you know anyone who would like to donate any of these items or help purchase good equipment, please contact us and mention WAKETHESILENCE Africa.

WAKETHESILENCE NEPAL

Padam and Prabina need an upgraded portable sound system for their traveling music ministry. They would like to buy and amplifier, speakers, monitor, mic stands, speaker stands, headphone for their sound guys, and the appropriate wires. Padam wants to purchase these items in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, because the cost is much less. So, we will be sending money to them once we have enough raised. The total cost if you would like to help with WAKETHESILENCE Nepal is $850.00.

WAKETHESILENCE UNITED STATES

Last year we were able to help Experiencing God Through Missions with one of their church plants in Wyoming. WAKETHESILENCE provided a portable Fender sound system for the church so they could have music and amplification for their sermons. Experiencing God Through Missions needs two more portable sound systems for two more church plants that they are assisting with here in the United States.

We desperately need your prayers for WAKETHESILENCE . Please pray that we can meet every legitimate need that comes to us. Pray that we have discernment and wisdom as we continue to grow as a ministry. Thank you for all you are doing for WAKETHESILENCE Ministries.

If you would like to help in any way, please contact us through our website, http://www.wakethesilence.com/. We look so forward to hearing from you!
